Ok.. no.. not living additions.
Lemme sum up... no.. too little.. . lemme 'splain.
After having had the previous Ford Ranger take a graceful skate into a guard rail and subsequently leave us for that truck heaven in the sky, we had had several things piling up that we needed to do that require a vehicle like a truck or a van. This included dropping off an old dresser at GoodWill along with picking up a few replacement pieces.
Well, I finally got a good deal on a replacement truck, and things are looking up! Right out of the gate, we shuffled our furniture, made a recycle run, and picked up a nice piece from IKEA. The Hemnes 6-Drawer Chest to match the one I already have. Unfortunately, since I picked up mine several years ago, IKEA has changed their color offerings, and they no longer sell a "Natural" but we got the closest thing we could find. This is a nice big solid chest of drawers, and I've been really happy with my previous set, and this one is making a nice addition, and giving Cristin a boatload more space for all her schtuff.
In addition to that, since our closet space is at an extreme premium, I picked up a free-standing clothing rack that seems to be working out really well. Because of our storage issues, and a really underutilized and not very nice prior dresser, I had a bad tendency to just drape clean clothes over the dresser instead of finding ways to hang or otherwise store them. I kinda knew I wanted a rack because then I could get more space to hang things, and maybe a shelf or two for shoes or whatever. So I picked up a Whitmore Double Closet set, which has a low bar and a high bar, and several shelves, and that has worked out really well! I have plenty of room to hang my shirts and nicer pants, and I have shelves for my folded jeans, sweats and things. It seems really sturdy, and I'm hoping it will work out for a long time. :-)
So yay for truck and yay for new storage. Every little bit helps us bring things together and get us closer to a nicer place.
